| The origins
of Alica date back to the Etruscan times, whose precious
remains are still visible today.
Afterwards it followed
the Valdera events, and each domination left many signs:
the church built around the year 1000, dominating the
Valdera; the castle, first monastery of Cartusiensi friars
and later hostel for all the pilgrims going to Rome from
the Mediterranean, using boats of the once powerful Pisa
sea republic.

In the surroundings of Alica the poets Byron
and Shelley and the wife of the latter, Mary (well known
as the author of Frankenstein) were used to stop and rest. |
